During November, the wild Mexican sunflowers (Bua Thong) bloom in vivid yellow across Doi Mae U-Kho. The location is approx 26 kilometers from the town of Khun Yuam, on Highway No. 1263. The annual flowering draws hordes of visitors to Khun Yuam district.
Khun Yuam has a small but interesting museum, with 1300+ items of military equipment and photographs from World War 2. Imperial Japanese Army troops were stationed there during construction of a highway intended to cross Burma to India.
