Khun Yuam - Mae Hong Son
Khun Yuam is both a district (Amphoe) and a town (Amphur) within Mae Hong Son Province, northern Thailand.
Khun Yuam is well worth a visit during the month of November, when the Bua Thong flowers are in full bloom on the mountain sides.
Wild Sunflowers
During November, the wild Mexican sunflowers (Bua Thong) bloom in vivid yellow across Doi Mae U-Kho. The location is approx 26 kilometers from the town of Khun Yuam, on Highway No. 1263. The annual flowering draws hordes of visitors to Khun Yuam district.War Museum
Khun Yuam has a small but interesting museum, with 1300+ items of military equipment and photographs from World War 2. Imperial Japanese Army troops were stationed there during construction of a highway intended to cross Burma to India.
